Learn how to set up the Chroma Key filter with OBS
OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is one of the most popular programs for streaming and broadcasts. It can be used both for online broadcasts and screen projections. By following the steps below, you will be able to combine different video sources and use the Chroma Key effect for your subtitles.
Downloading and Installing OBS
First of all, you will need to download and install OBS on your computer. Follow the steps below:
- Access the OBS official website.
- Download the version compatible with your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
- Follow the installation instructions and open OBS.
Creating an event with Chroma Key in Legenda.Live
Now let's create our event on Legenda.Live.
- Log in or create a new account.
- Fill in your event information in the “Customize your event” section.
- Select “Projection” as the destination of your subtitles. You can also add and customize other
subtitle destinations.
- Click on “Start Event”
Adding a Browser Source
Now that OBS is installed and open, let's add a browser source to project the content:
- In OBS, click on the “+” icon in the “Sources” section.
- Select the “Browser” option.
- Name your browser source (optional) and click “OK”.
- In the browser settings window, enter the link of the projection you want to broadcast.
- To get the link to your subtitle projection from Legenda.Live, on the event screen, look for the
“Chroma Key Settings” section, click on the “COPY LINK” button.
- Adjust the size of the browser to match the projected screen.
Setting the Scene
Now let's set the source and add the Chroma Key effect to remove the green background:
- Use the CTRL+F shortcut to expand the browser and fill the entire screen.
- Right-click on the browser source you have created and select “Filters”.
- In the filters panel, click on “+” and choose the “Chroma Key” option.
- Name the Chroma Key filter (optional) and click “OK”.
- The filter will automatically select the color green for removal. If the background is a different color, you can change the value by selecting a different “Key Color Type”.
That's it, you can now add other broadcast sources, such as slides or your webcam.
To make sure that the subtitles appear before the other sources, check that the browser with the subtitles is at the top of the list of sources. This way, it will be placed over the final image, ensuring that the subtitles appear correctly.
By following these steps, you can subtitle your broadcast or event, making it more accessible.
